I wasn’t so sure about planning a trip to Sherbrooke but as I set foot in the city, it completely changed my mind. The lovely city of Sherbrooke has a long history. The lush green spaces of the city offer me the peace of mind that was looking from. It is a perfect getaway from the bustling city life. The natural attraction along with the cultural and heritage sites makes it just perfect for a holiday. To spend some quality time in the city, there are a few things that you should not miss out on.

  • Get an Adrenaline Rush

Mout Bellevue Park is perfect for visiting any time of the year. It is sure to give you an adrenaline rush. The highest points of the park 333 meters and it is the largest park in the city. If you want to go hiking, snowshoeing, mountain biking, or even cross-country skiing, you can avail the 30-kilometer trail. If you are visiting during the summer months, you can go for tubing in water.

  • Admire the Art

Museum of Fine Arts is the best destination for art lovers. I was truly impressed by the permanent collection. It displays the works of different artists from Eastern Township of Quebec. Visit and marvel at the art. At the first two levels, you will find traveling exhibition while in the third you will find works by regional artists.

  • Get to Know about Natural Diversity

Nature and Science Museum of Sherbrooke has more than 65,000 specimens and objects for displaying the province’s flora and fauna. I found minerals, animal fossil, plant fossil, and scientific instruments displayed here. There are some archaeological artifacts to check out. The museum holds special exhibitions from time to time. Go to the boutique if you want to get some souvenir for your loved ones.

Saskatoon: Unique Things To Be A Part Of

One of the most visited and talked about the destination of Canada in Saskatoon. The city thrives as a progressive metropolis. What enthralled me about this city is the array of activities it has to offer. Here, I came across a bustling nightlife, outdoor spaces, local eateries, and river trails. The city experiences coldest winter and hottest summer. Here are some of the activities you can be a part of when you are in this city.

  • Shop at the Farmer’s Market

Do you like prairies? Don’t forget to visit the farmer’s market. The largest and the oldest one I came across in the province. Presently, the market has extended beyond farmers. It now has made a place for crafters, artisans, and also special food makers. The market comes live on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. While I was here, I enjoyed a great lunch and wandered around the market.

  • Go for a ride on horse drawn carriage

There is nothing better than taking a ride on a horse-drawn wagon on a summer day. You will get a view of the river and the city. I took a downtown tour, starting with Bess borough Hotel and proceeding on to Saskatchewan River. However, you can avail the rides from the months of May to September.

  • Spend some time at the Wanuskewin Park

The Aboriginal heritage of the city is incredible. You can explore various cultural sites and parks. Get to know about the history of the province from these cultural sites. This park has archaeological sites that harbor pyramids from Egypt. There is proof pointing out to the settlement of the race more than 6,000 years before. I was witness to a wonderful cultural program organized by the park. You can also be a part of archaeological lectures and story time.

Matamoros: What To Do And Where To Go?

Matamoros where culture, history, and modernity are comes together. All throughout the city, I found well-maintained structures from the 19th century. Some of these have been converted into schools, auditoriums, and museums. Even though this is an unexplored city, there are various attractions that you will come across. Here is a small guide to the best attractions to look out for.

  • Nuestra Senora del Refugio

This is a cathedral that was developed in 1833. Since then it has undergone many renovations because of the damage caused by the natural forces. The tower of the cathedral had been destroyed by a hurricane. The final restoration was done in 1987. Inside the cathedral, I came across a replica of the Pieta sculpture of the Vatican. This had been made by Michelangelo Buonarroti, the genius. It is the biblical representation of Mother of God embracing Jesus’ lifeless body.

  • Museum of Mexican Agrarianism

The museum has been built on the land where the first land distribution of Mexico took place. This is a unique museum having a display of modern vignettes with an enormous collection of natural tools which had been used in previous times along with several historical weapons.

  • Fort Casamata Museum

This building is only one of its kind to thrive in this city. Fort Casamata Museum showcases things that speak of the development and the origin of Matamoros. I found that it also depicts the military action that happened there. Apart from this, I came across an outdoor area for events, an archive, a café, and also a souvenir shop.

  • Cross House

The French style building is quite important for the Matamoros resident since it is only structure of its type in the city. Meliton Cross was the first owner of the property. He decorated this place in an elegant manner.
